Resources for Educators

I receive a lot of emails from educators interested in having their students get access to some or all of the video content in the Critical Thinker Academy. On this page I list some of the options you have.

(Let me just remind you that if you have access to professional development funds to support your teaching activities, they might be able to cover memberships and courses purchased at Critical Thinker Academy.)

1. Buy a single membership and show the videos in your classes

If you buy a membership you’re free to show the videos on your web browser via a computer-projector setup in your classes. This will require internet access in your classroom, and logging in with your membership ID.

This is certainly the cheapest option, but it means that your students don’t have access to the videos outside of class.

2. Buy a group membership for your students at a highly discounted rate

Instructors can purchase a group membership. Group memberships involve a commitment to signing up 10 or more students at once (a single class or multiple classes).

The instructor would need to provide me with a spreadsheet with a list of names and email addresses of the students you wish to enroll. I would then set up each student with a 6 MONTH membership at a cost of $10 per student (a normal 6 MONTH membership is $39.95). So, if you had 15 students a group membership would cost $150 to grant memberships to those 15 students.

This option makes the tutorials available to your students outside of class, and they receive all the benefits of membership (including, for example, all the new content that is produced over the course of the membership, the monthly Critical Thinker Academy email newsletter, etc.). They would each need to login with their own username and password to view the videos through a web browser.

To take advantage of this option please contact me and we can work out the details.

3. Purchase individual courses or bundles of courses as digital downloads

I often receive requests from teachers or academic institutions to purchase copies of the video files for hosting on their course web pages or institutional servers.

This solution avoids the need to have a membership to the site or logging in via a browser to view the videos; they can be viewed locally on the computer in your classroom or on a course web page. And they can be made available to all the students you teach, in all your courses, forever.

The downside is that it’s pricier, you don’t get automatic access to new tutorials as they become available, and you’ll need to manage any technical challenges associated with hosting and presenting the videos (say, in a WebCT page or a course web page).

I can accommodate any request of this nature (individual courses or bundles of any of the courses I offer). Please contact me about specific requests.

Common Requests

By far the most common request I receive is for access to the video files for the tutorial course “How to Cite Sources and Avoid Plagiarism“. I get a lot of college and university administrators asking me about these.

So I’ve set up a special page for ordering this tutorial set. Click on the graphic below to view a video introduction. I recommend watching the video even if you’re not interested in this particular course, since it provides useful information on different licensing options that would apply to any course that you might purchase.
