How does Patreon work?

Patreon is a platform that makes it easy for fans to offer continuing support for the work of their favorite content creators. These may be may be musicians, writers, podcasters, YouTube video creators, graphic artists, or retired academics like me :).

Supporters -- called "Patrons" -- are able to pledge as little as one dollar per month. Patrons can set caps on their total monthly donations, if they're supporting more than one creator.

Normally such small donation amounts would not be practical because credit card and PayPal transaction fees would soak up most of the pledge amounts.

Patreon has solved that problem by aggregating the monthly pledges of all the supporting Patrons, and then charging credit card and PayPal fees against these lump sum transactions, rather than each individual pledge.

You can learn more about how you can support the Critical Thinker Academy by visiting our "Thanks and Support" page.

If you find some value in the content on this site, and in the future plans for this site, please consider becoming a Patron!

Please note that Patreon is an independent third-party platform that handles the financials associated with recurring pledges. This means that your Academy login and password doesn't work on Patreon. You'll need to register with Patreon separately (just once) before you can become a Patron.
